Working Students
The Working Student Program is s specialized, supervised, educational program within the Hi Acre Riding School. Working students have provided invaluable service at Hi Acres for over 30 years, while their work has earned them riding time and many educational opportunities and experiences
Features
- applicants must be active students of the Hi Acre Riding School
- participation requires completion of an application, and agreement to periodic evaluation and testing
- while supervised, students are expected to function independently in most of the horse and client interactions
- no fees are required
Responsibilities
- presence is required on Saturdays from 8:30am-3:00pm. Students are expected to be dedicated and responsible
- prepare school horses for lessons by grooming, tacking, leading to and from arenas, and cooling off when required
- assist clients in readying their mounts for lessons
- assist instructors by maintaining flow of lesson schedule
- be a good role model for all other students
Requirements
- must be an active Hi Acre Riding student
-must learn and comply with barn rules and etiquette
- must be able to handle the school horses safely, and ride independently, as judged by the instructors
- must be recommended for the program by and instructor
Rewards
- Supervised "free rides" on Saturday
